An attractive cradle shaped sterling silver inkstand with pretty pierced scroll decoration and 2 cut glass ink bottles with matching silver hinged tops. Unusual rope twist borders. Excellent gauge silver.

This useful ink bottle stand is in very good condition. The silver has no dents or pierced pieces missing. The bottles are matching, original to the stand, the silver tops have matching silver marks to the stand, there are a few very minor little chips around the bases where they have been put inside and out of the stand and these do not show when they are in place. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Abraham Solomon Blanckensee started this silver making business in Bristol in 1826, moving shortly afterwards to Birmingham. He entered in partnership with Saul Samuel trading as Blanckensee, Samuel & Co and in Melbourne, Australia, with Simeon Joseph and Elias Samuel trading as Joseph, Samuel & Co. The partnership was dissolved in 1858 and the limited liability company S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd was formed in 1887.
