A large pair of geometric faceted bottles with sterling silver collars. Excellent heavy quality. Each contains 950 ml. Height 31.2 cms (including stopper). London 1913. Maker John Grinsell & Sons.
These useful bottles are in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Both have sterling silver collars with a full set of clear and matching English silver hallmarks. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
Maker: John Grinsell & Sons
John Grinsell, a Birmingham manufacturer, the business was originally established before 1864 as Grinsell & Bourne. The partnership was dissolved (1871) and John Grinsell started a new business with his sons (Thomas Bywater Grinsell, James Erazmus Grinsell, Lorenzo Grinsell and Joseph Charles Grinsell) as John Grinsell & Sons and London and Glasgow showrooms were opened. In 1905c. the firm became John Grinsell & Sons Ltd and later purchased by Barker Ellis & Co Ltd. The trade mark "Cupid standing on a scroll" was registered in 1879. The firm was specialized in the manufacture of silver-mounted glass, stoneware and ceramic items.
