A rare early English silver scent bottle with a screw top and attached chain with finger ring. The perfume flask is in the form of a miniature medieval pilgrim flask and is hand engraved with foliate decoration. The posy ring is inscribed inside “A” and “My night is all my delight” together with a little mouse figure. Weight 29 grams, just under 1 troy oz. Height 5.9cm. Width 3.1cm. Base measures 1 .8 x 1.3cm. Probably London circa 1690. Maker’s mark of E.H.

The pull off lid is hand engraved with the Tudor rose and the tube has the hatched decoration typical for small silver objects dating back to the final quarter of the 1600’s. A rare early English silver chamber candlestick (also known as a go to bed) with the plain styling and hand beaten silver you’d expect from this date. It has a large drip pan and flat tongue shaped handle. The candle socket has 4 circular holes to enable the stub of the candle to be levered out. A nice feature is the shaped handle decoration and heart shaped hole for hanging when not in use. Hand engraved to the handle is an armorial within a decorative cartouche and on the reverse side there are two sets of prick initials and dates. “I.B 1694” and “D.W June 23^rd 1693”. Weight 147 grams, 4.7 troy ounces. Diameter 12.9cm. Length 22.5cm. English Sterling silver. Prick marks Charles II to William and Mary date. Circa 1693. No hallmarks. The earliest prick date can be read as either 1664 or 1694 – see photos. In our opinion this is 1664. Makers mark “W.W” unidentified.

A charming little antique silver toy coffee pot. This beautiful little side handle pot has a cylindrical tapering body, a conical lid surmounted by a ball finial, and a low spout akin to those more usually found on a chocolate pot. Engraved to the upper handle are the owner’s initials “C.P”. The pot looks like an exact copy of a full size original and the great attention to detail and slightly larger size than normal toys of this period indicate that it may well have been a traveller’s sample. Contains 20 ml. Weight 60 grams, 1.9 troy ounces. Height 8 cms. Spread 5 cms. Diameter of base 3.5 cms.
