    A 17th century silver gilt casket of traditional rectangular form. The domed top with swing handle is hand engraved with a bridal couple surrounded by birds and foliage. The body, standing on four ball feet, has a front locking catch in the form of a flower, and is hand engraved with old testament scenes. Initials to the front of the lid. Weight 162 grams, 5.2 troy ounces. Height 7.7cm. Length 8.5cm. Depth 5cm. Stamped underneath twice with a maker’s mark (anvil?) unidentified. Circa 1680.

    An excellent antique Dutch gilt silver spoon. Cast silver. The finial is modelled with a seated figure holding a baby and accompanied by a cherub, an allegorical representation of maternal love.     An antique silver beaker of tall tapering form with a flared rim. Large size and good gauge silver. The cup has fine quality engraving of cherubs and garlands of fruit surrounded by foliate scrolls and classical motifs. The base still has an old Dutch stock label. Weight 462 grams, 14.8 troy ounces. Height 19.2 cm. Diameter 12.5 cm (top), 9.2 cm (base). Stamped underneath with Netherlands silver marks. The makers mark, a lion, is probably Dordrecht, 1635 or 1658.

    A 17th century silver casket of traditional rectangular trunk form having a domed top with swing handle. The openwork cast body is smothered in flower heads and scrolling foliage. Bold flowers, including poppies, tulips and daffodils were very popular during the mid to late 17th century. The hand chasing is excellent. The body stands on four little ball and claw feet and has a front locking catch. Weight 159 grams, 5.1 troy ounces. Height 6.6cm (7.5cm with handle extended). Length 8.2cm. Depth 5cm. Stamped inside on the base twice with a maker’s mark (bird?) unidentified. Dutch. Circa 1680.

    A fascinating piece of history contained in a small silver globe. This antique silver pomander of spherical form has all-over chased decoration of flowers & leaf-scrolls in low relief. The screw top unturns to release the six numbered, hinged segments with sliding covers, the interior with hand engraved flowers. The foot unscrews to reveal a secret hollow compartment. Weight 89 grams, 2.8 troy ounces. Height 6.5cm. Spread 9cm fully extended. The pomander is made of unmarked silver It is quite usual for a small article of this date to be unmarked. Probably Dutch. Circa 1680.

    A rare antique Dutch silver salt cellar, late 17th century, of square base form with canted corners. The waisted stem is beautifully engraved and chased with scroll and scalework detail, with the engraved date ‘1698’ above and initials ‘I T’. The base and circular bowl have the embossed fluting typical of the circa 1700 period. Weight 111 grams,3.5 troy ounces. Height 6.3cm. Width of base 9cm. Probably Dutch. Makers mark “HS”.     A very smart antique silver tray of oval shape with a bevelled glass centre and silver ball feet. The pierced silver gallery has a bead border, interlaced scroll design and inset carrying handles. Underneath the border is reinforced with a brass ring. Length 56.5 cm. Width 42 cm. Height 6 cm. Stamped on the side of the handles with Dutch silver marks and the date letter “L” for 1845. Silver grade 934 (this is purer than sterling silver which is 925 parts out of 1000).

    A rare and delightful antique scent bottle with a decorative gold mount. Excellent quality. In the original fitted box. The beautiful gold mounted top has a hand engraved design with a classical Greek key border and scroll work additions, inside the hinged top there is a small glass stopper. The oval shaped body is made of multi faceted rock crystal and typically of the period, has a rounded base which was made to lie down. Bottle height 10 cms. Width 4.25 cms. Stamped on the mount with a small Dutch gold mark, circa 1860.

    An antique silver model of a windmill mounted on a wine cup. Hand engraved. Beautifully constructed with multiple moving parts. The windmill house is reached by a staircase with two sculptured figures climbing up, on one side there is a man peeping out of a small window. The revolving windmill sails connect to the clock hands on the other side and both move together. The roof is mounted with a revolving flag, a tiny bird and a sculptured finial. There is a horn which is non-functional. Weight 203 grams, 6.5 troy ounces. Height 22.5 cm. Diameter of cup 8.5 cm. Fully stamped with Dutch silver marks fpr Amsterdam. Circa 1890.

    A rare form of this highly collectible item modelled as a lady with a crinoline dress with a beautifully engraved skirt. However, to the other side the figure has the face of a man. The cup is hinged with long arms which swivels so that the top half rotates under which there is a second small cup. This can then be used as a traditional marriage cup. Weight 54 grams, 1.7 troy ounces. Height 7 cms. Diameter of base cup 4 cms. Spread when open 10.5 cms. Marked around the base with a Dutch control mark. Circa 1900.
