An excellent Georgian sterling silver meat dish, or serving dish, of shaped oval form with an applied gadroon border. It’s very rare to find an antique dish like this still complete with its original mazerine strainer. Hand engraved to one side of the platter and to the centre of the strainer with a hand engraved armorial. Marked number 17, this platter has come from a very large and important dinner service. A rare early English silver monteith from the Queen Anne period. Large size. The decoration, with the ribbed body and decorative cartouches, is typical for this period. Particularly charming are the quaint lions mask side handles. The shaped monteith rim is fixed and was originally used to hold stem glasses, punch ladle and lemon squeezer. To the front and back there is a good hand engraved armorial for the Fitzgerald family. Underneath the bowl there is also a presentation inscription from the Fitzgerald family. Gilt interior. The silver bottle tops are unmarked, they are crested and the tops fit perfectly into the silver frame.
There is a hand engraved armorial on the 3 castors and cartouche of the frame and a crest on the top of the oli and vinegar bottles. -

An excellent quality antique silver condiment bottle set. The boat shaped stand has rope twist borders and decorative pierced ends with applied leaf and grape mounts. The cut crystal oil and vinegar bottles have faceted necks and pretty raised bow ornaments. The heavy silver bottle tops fit snugly and sit into the holders on the side of the stand when the bottles are in use. There is a good armorial engraved within the cartouche on the front of the stand. Weight of frame 652 grams, 20.9 troy ounces. Stand measures – length 31 cms, width 17 cms. Total height 20 cms. Marked on every piece with French silver stamps for Paris 1785.
