10140 Antique Silver Owl Decanter
A fantastic antique coconut cup finely modelled in the Renaissance style as an owl with hinged wings and figural strapwork. The silver head, with large cut paste eyes surrounded by tuffs of feathers, is detachable and can be used as a drinking cup. The silver base is intricately modelled as a rocky outcrop mounted with applied insects and amphibians. Total weight, including coconut, 1025 grams. Height 29.5cm. Spread across the wings 19cm. 9915 Antique Dutch Silver Nef Sailing Ship
This is a superb solid silver galleon ship (traditionally known as a Nef), intricately modelled and shown in full sail. Excellent size and quality throughout. The top section of the Neff can be removed from the hull revealing an open compartment or space. The hull is finely chased with cherubs and leaves, flowers and scrolls. The ship stands on four dolphin mounted wheels. Weight 2445 grams, 78.6 troy ounces. Height 48cm. Spread 34cm. Width of large sail 20cm. Hull measures 30.5 x 11.5cm. Dutch silver stamps. London import marks for 1891. Importer Samuel Boyce Landeck. Sterling silver.

9268 Antique Silver Model Horse and Rider
A large and substantial figure of a silver rider on horseback. Excellent quality and heavy gauge. Original gilt finish and jewelling to the clothing and horse harness. Natural stone base. The model is very intricate with many separate pieces assembled together. The head is removable. Weight 1180 grams, 37.9 troy ounces. This weight excludes the onyx base and the two silver hallmarked screw caps. It includes the weight of the two screws soldered to the bottom of the back hooves. Height 28 cm (from base to top of head). Base height 3 cm, length 24 cm, width 13 cm. Marked on the head, harness and horse tail with London import marks for 1896, maker Edwin Thompson Bryant.

8259 Antique German Silver Double Box
An unusual silver box with domed hinged lids to top and bottom and a double compartment. To each side there are embossed interior scenes of people in old fashioned clothing; drinking, playing musical instruments and relaxing with animals. Original gilt interior. Weight 142 grams, 4.5 troy ounces. Height 7.5 cm. Top measures 7 x 4.5 cm. Marked inside the base with the pseudo marks of Wolf & Knell founded in 1887, merged in 1914 with Gebruder Glaser to form Vereinigte Silberwarenfabriken. Hanau, circa 1900.

A striking figure of a dog raised on hind legs with one foot supported by an oval specimen of Blue John*. The modelling is very realistic. Raised on a marble resin base. Height 17.5 (total), 12.5 cms (dog) cms. Base 10.5 x 5.8 cms. Unsigned. Probably English. Circa 1900.

A pretty little model silver mandolin. To the front there is a country scene with a horse and cherub. On the back there is a cherub fishing scene. Weight 41 grams, 1.3 troy ounces. Length 10.75 cms. Width 3.5 cms. Continental silver – unmarked. Circa 1900.

9941 Antique Silver Bear Decanter
A splendid antique silver drinks flask in the form of a standing bear with outstretched paws. Excellent quality and heavy gauge cast silver. Very pleasing design with lifelike detail in the face and all-over chased fur. The head is removable so that the body can be used as a decanter and the head as a cup; it pours beautifully. The interior is gilded. Contains 1 litre. Weight 1407 grams, 45.2 troy ounces. Height 24.5cm. Width between the paws 13.5cm. German Hanau silver marks. Probably Neresheimer. Circa 1900.

A very attractive 19th century novelty silver fish with green glass eyes and articulated body. The fish opens into a box at the neck and has an unusual snap shut mechanism. Large size and graceful style with naturalistic engraved detail and scales. The bottom fins serve also as stand supports. Weight 274 grams, 8.8 troy ounces. Length 28cm. Foreign silver marks. 8392 Antique Silver Throne Pin Cushion
An unusual antique sterling silver pin cushion in the form of the Coronation Chair at Westminster Abbey in London. This was made in 1296 for King Edward I to enclose the famous Stone of Scone; the original is made of solid oak and stands on 4 gilt lions. Height 4 cms. Width 2.5 cms.Depth 1.25 cms. Very collectible sewing item. A lovely antique sterling silver hedgehog or porcupine pin cushion. Cleverly designed so that you can put the pins in the holes to form the spines of the animal. A handsome figure of a knight in full armour having a hinged visor and carved bakalite face. In one hand he has a shield, in the other a flag. Parcel gilt finish. 9887 Antique Silver and Enamel Box
An excellent quality little silver box with hinged lid and gilt interior. Very small size. The top bears a decorative scene of a castle or mansion, probably Haddon Hall, in a forest setting, the sky is represented in green enamel. Weight 64 grams, 2 troy ounces. Top measures 4.7.x 3.2cm. 8599 Antique German Silver Nef Sailing Ship
A superb sterling silver galleon ship, known as a Nef, intricately modelled with 2 tall masts having multi section sails and long boom, manned crows nests, flags and rigging. Each mast has a man climbing up a tall ladder. On the upper deck the helmsman is steering the ship while the other sailors carry out their duties. A central staircase connects the two decks. Around the edge is a decorative pierced gallery and below this, the port holes with their cannons ready for battle. There is a large armorial plaque to the rear of the hull with the motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense”.

The top of the hull measures – length 31.5cm x width 14.3 cm (at the widest point).The nef has multiple silver stamps including London import marks, on the bottom edge of the top section and the body of the hull, for 1913. Importer Berthold Muller.
The top section of the Neff can be removed from the hull. The hull of the ship is realistically engraved with timber effect planks and graining; the interior is gilded, the rudder is in the form of a dolphin, the anchor is attached by a chain. The ship has 10 cannons and stands on four decorative wheels.

9955 Charles II Style Antique Silver Chenets
An outstanding pair of George IV sterling silver cherub ornaments of substantial weight and presence. These silver andirons are in the 17th century style, after the models at Knowle. The vase shaped bodies support large cherub finials; one with a shovel, the other with a pair of bellows. The broad shaped bases, raised on claw feet, are chased in relief with busts and satyr masks amidst foliage. These andirons are raised on later, detachable and ebonised wood display plinths. Total weight of silver 7,664 grams, 246.3 troy ounces. Height 63.4cm, total height 73cm including the wooden stand. London 1916. Maker Edward Barnard & Sons. Sterling silver.

A fabulous set of 5 silver rabbit condiments. Excellent quality and vivid modelling. Heavy cast silver. Very rare. The bunny rabbits (or hares) are large and chunky and have coloured bead eyes.
