The hand engraved border has a detailed band of scrolls, shells and matting with mythical face masks to the corners and erupting volcanoes to the sides. Hand engraved on the lid with feather edge borders and an inscription in old fashioned script “A Gift of the Hon. Charles Hamilton To TT*. The gold coin bears the heads of King William and Queen Mary of King George to the front, and on the reverse there are armorials for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and the date “1691”. A fine pair of antique silver serving dishes and covers on warming bases. Large size, excellent quality and good gauge silver. Elegant plain styling, with a broad band of ribbing and gadroon borders, and topped with a magnificent lion mounted handle. The warming bases are typical of the period and have discreet wooden pad feet and carrying handles. The covers both have a large coat of arms hand engraved to the front and an arm crest topped by a crown to the reverse side, the plates also have the matching crest.
