A superb antique sterling silver teapot of circular form with a cast decorative foot and pretty flower finial. Good gauge silver and excellent manufacture. The chased body has a deep relief decoration with flowers and leaves and there is a pretty cast silver lid finial. The front cartouche has an engraved lion crest and initial “B”. Contains 1200 ml. A curious little silver container in the form of a small teapot with a serpent spout and handle, four heavy cast eagle feet, and the lid finial modelled as a swan. 19th century. Fantastic decorative quality and heavy gauge silver. Likely to be an oil dispenser (oliera), possibly to fill something like a kettle spirit lamp. Contains 320ml. Weight 519 grams, 16.6 troy ounces. Length 18.5cm from spout to handle. Rome, Italy. Maker Luigi Sciolet. Circa 1840.

To the front there is a hand engraved crest of a bird above the motto “mea gloria fides” meaning “our faith in glory”. Contains 650 ml. Weight 421 grams, 13.5 troy ounces. A large antique Tibetan or Nepalese silver teapot with a domed lid, originally attached with a chain, and matching teapot stand. Very heavy gauge silver. Interesting style combining both Indian and Chinese influences. The handle is modelled as a dragon’s head with a curved neck and scales, the spout has animal decoration, the body has traces of an engraved or embossed decoration. The teapot has an unusual base formation (see photos) which sits onto an elaborate matching stand. The lid and teapot stand both have a decorative circular motif. Contains 1400 ml. Weight 1393 grams, 44.7 troy ounces. Height 21 cms. Spread 29 cms. Stamped underneath with 2 characters, probably the makers mark. Circa 1900.

Of colonial interest. A delightful antique silver teapot with embossed decoration all over of a hunting scene. With a snake handle and coiled snake finger rest (to assist pouring) on top. The decoration is very charming with the palm tree forest inhabited by elephants, lions, rabbits, a boy with a spear and a deity with wings. Contains 750 ml. Weight 515 grams, 16.5 troy ounces. Height 12 (to top of snake). Spread 25 cms. Unmarked silver. Indian, probably Kutch. Circa 1900.

Of colonial interest. A delightful antique silver teapot with embossed decoration all over of a hunting scene. With an elephant finial and stylised elephant handle and spout. The body has an interesting decoration of a jungle inhabited by elephants, lions and wild cows; to one side there is an elephant, with his mahout, and riding on the howdah* a hunter is taking aim at a group of lions, on the other side the man on horseback is shooting a gun and is accompanied by his hunting dog. Weight 547 grams, 17.5 troy ounces. Height 11 (to top of finial). Spread 23.5 cms. Stamped underneath with Indian silver marks for Bombay. Circa 1900.
