    8064 Antique Silver Snuff Box

    A rare figural snuff box in the form of a man’s head; complete with long straggly beard, large ears and night cap. Probably Old Man Time. The smooth, hinged back opens to take the snuff. The quality and definition of the decoration is very good and the box sits very well in the hand. Weight 34 grams, 1.09 troy ounces. Length 7 cms. Width (max) 5 cms. Sterling silver. Fully marked on the back above the hinge with English silver hallmarks for Sheffield 1828. Maker probably William Nowell.

    A good pair of antique telescopic candle holders in sterling silver. Excellent plain style, typical of the period, with broad bands of gadroon and shell ornament. Detachable nozzles. The candlestick top fits inside a sleeve within the bottom half of the stick so that the height of the columns can be adjusted. Height 22.5/28cm. Diameter of base 12.5cm. Sheffield 1828.     7644 George III Silver Wine Ewer

    A superb antique sterling silver wine jug with a shaped vase form on spreading pedestal foot. Fantastic quality from top to toe, just as you’d expect from this prestigious English master silversmith. With a cast decorative top finial, thick knotted handle, large applied vine leaves to the lower body and a heavy cast silver foot. Wrapped around the body are 2 bands of ornate gilt silver vine leaves and a curious feature is the lower band, which covers the silver hallmarks, but can be detached by unscrewing the central vine leaf. The inner lid and inside the jug also have the original gilt finish. Contains 1200 ml. Weight 969 grams, 31.1 troy ounces. Height 29 cms. Spread 18 cms. London 1829. Maker Paul Storr.

The body has a bulbous rectangular form with stunningly modelled cast silver handles, feet and lid finial. The borders are mounted with broad borders of shell and gadroon ornament. Hand engraved to the front is a large armorial with the matching griffin crest to the lid. Heavy gauge silver. Good colour. Total weight 4294 grams, 138 troy oz. Total height 28cm.     A very collectible antique silver snuff mull with a silver hinged lid and chain. The horn body is in excellent condition. On the front is an inscription dated 1838.Length 17.5 cms. Diameter of top 3 cms at widest point. Marked inside lid with a continental silver stamp – CLNU SILBER. Probably Swedish and circa 1830.

    Large and imposing. A substantial antique silver plated candelabra with 5 branches in Old Sheffield Plate. Very elegant plain style with a simple tapering column, curving branches and gadroon finish. The base is engraved with the crest of a horse to two sides. This candelabra is very versatile – it can be used with all 5 branches but also dismantles to make a single 2 branch candelabra. Also the base used as a candlestick. The candle sconces are detachable (the centre one is non-matching). Height – total 73 cms, candlestick 49 cms. Spread 52 cms. Unmarked. Circa 1830.
