  A superb French vari colour gold snuff box (or bonbonniere) of circular form with detachable pull off cover. Large size and heavy gauge. The cover, sides and base have concentric panels, stamped at intervals with pellets, within bands of line engraving and rope twist. The execution is excellent especially the detailed matted background. Weight 127 grams, 4 troy ounces. Diameter 7.2cm. Height 2.2cm. Paris 1784/85. Maker Nicolas-Jean-Baptiste Choconain-Delaunay.
