    10220 Antique Continental Silver Candlesticks

    An early pair of solid silver candlesticks with baluster columns and spreading bases with sunken wells. This style is typical of early 18th century English candlesticks. Excellent colour. Each has a hand engraved initial “R” to the top of the base and a contemporary inscription below. Total weight 338 grams, 10.8 troy oz. Height 16cm. Diameter of base 11.1cm. Continental. Circa 1726.

    9255 Antique Silver Coconut Cup

    An antique silver mounted coconut cup on a tall spreading foot. Good size and condition. The bowl is profusely carved and the four vignettes show 1) crowned monogram, 2) a mountain scene with houses in the foreground, a river and bridge, 3) a forest scene with a monument surrounded by a bird, dog and lamb 4) a carved still life roundel. There is a silver mount to the top and base, and there is also a shaped collar where the base meets the cup. The top mount has an inscription. Contains 400 ml. Height 15.5 cm. Diameter 8 cm. Unmarked. Probably continental, circa 1800.

    A rare little early antique silver trinket box with a pull off lid and original gilt interior. The engraved decoration is very charming with Chinese figures, pagodas and garden scenes. Weight 141 cm, 4.5 troy ounces. Height 6 cm. Diameter 9.5 cm. Stamped underneath with a crown and 3 stars over the makers initials “LM”. European, possibly English, circa 1690.

    A rare antique solid silver chalice dating to circa 1700. Over 300 years old and in very good condition. Good original gilt finish. The decorative form is typical of German drinking cups of this period, the cup could also possibly be Italian. The shaped globular bowl and foot have embossed decoration with face masks and fruit, the top has a hand chased scroll border, and the centre column is mounted with 3 cast scrollwork ornaments with figureheads. Contains 200 ml. Weight 365 grams, 11.7 troy ounces. Height 20 cms. Diameter – top 6.5 cms, foot 9 cms. Marked on the edge of the foot rim with makers mark “PS” for Philipp Stenglin, town mark and assay scrape. Continental. Circa 1700.

    A very interesting antique silver cup of tapering form and plain style. Simple shape with bright gilt bands to the rim and base, and gilded interior. Good gauge silver and weight. The base is beautifully engraved with an armorial dated 1701, possibly a town arms. Engraved initials to the front. Contains 350 ml. Weight 136 grams, 4.3 troy ounces. Height 9.2cm.     A very pretty antique silver beaker of shaped wrythen form. The bright fire gilding on the interior and part exterior is very striking. Heavy gauge silver. The body is decorated with a sea foam border and broad trails of flowers and foliage. Engraved to the front is a crown crest over initials. Contains 150 ml. Weight 125 grams, 4 troy ounces. Height 8.5cm. Diameter 7.1cm. Probably German. Circa 1750. Maker’s mark possibly I.B.D within a 3 leaf clover. Unmarked silver.

    A lovely little novelty collector’s item. An early 19th century gold vinaigrette modelled as a travelling case. The hinged cover, with a carrying handle, is inscribed ‘Souvenir’. The cover opens to reveal a pierced hinged grille. 2 coloured gold, the body is a rich yellow gold and the flower highlights and body fluting are in copper gold. Approx. measurements – height 2cm (handle extended), length 1.8cm, width 1.5cm. Weight 4.7grams. Circa 1820. Unmarked gold. Continental.
