    A superb antique sterling silver centerpiece with five detachable bowls which can be used separately. The pretty fluted stand is raised on tall shaped feet with a decorative border of looped harebell swags embellished with ribbons and classical motifs. Engraved to the centre of the stand and to all 5 bowls is a crest of a cockerel. All the bowls have elegant pierced silver with a cast border. Weight 2000 grams, 64.3 troy ounces. Height 32 cms. Large bowl 33 x 17 cms. Small bowl diameter 12 cms. Spread 41 x 38 cms. All pieces have matching silver marks. London 1788. Maker John Kidder.

    An important pair of antique sterling silver plates with plain styling and magnificent shell and gadroon borders. Excellent quality and manufacture as you’d expect from this world famous silversmith. Hand engraved to the top and bottom rim there are two crests and mottos for the Marquis of Londonderry* and the Order of the Bath. The underside bears the pattern number 820. Total weight 1515 grams, 48.7 troy ounces. Diameter 26.25 cms. London 1813. This handsome pair of ambassadorial silver plates were made by the celebrated London silversmith Paul Storr (1771-1844) for 1st Baron Charles William Stewart, later 3rd Marquess of Londonderry (1778-1854), on his appointment as ambassador at Vienna on 27 August 1814.

    An excellent pair of antique sterling silver serving dishes of shaped oval form with crisp gadroon borders. Engraved to the front there is a fine armorial, the motto reading “Finem respice” which means “look to the end”; we are told that these are the arms of John Bligh, the 3rd Earl of Darnley. Of staggered size, the medium platter nests perfectly inside the larger platter. Weight 2166 grams (69.6 troy ounces). The larger platter measures 44.5 x 31.5 cms. The medium platter measures 39 x 26.5 cms. London 1770. Maker Parker & Wakelin.

    A plain style pair of antique sterling silver asparagus tongs (or chop tongs) with a corrugated inside surface to grip the food. Very simple and clever manufacture that would suit either a left or righted handed person. Weight 114 grams, 3.6 troy ounces. Length 21.5 cms. One side is stamped with the makers initials “IH” and the lion mark; the other side is double struck with the makers mark. Maker probably John Hague, circa 1760.
