A superb antique sterling silver centerpiece with five detachable bowls which can be used separately. The pretty fluted stand is raised on tall shaped feet with a decorative border of looped harebell swags embellished with ribbons and classical motifs. Engraved to the centre of the stand and to all 5 bowls is a crest of a cockerel. All the bowls have elegant pierced silver with a cast border. Weight 2000 grams, 64.3 troy ounces. Height 32 cms. Large bowl 33 x 17 cms. Small bowl diameter 12 cms. Spread 41 x 38 cms. All pieces have matching silver marks. London 1788. Maker John Kidder.

Incredible quality and weight. A pair of heavy antique sterling silver castors of octagonal shape. With a hand engraved coronet and fancy scroll work design to the front of each. One caster has a pierced top for pepper and the other has a blind cover for dry mustard. The quality of the detailed pierced work and engraving is exceptional and gives the overall impression that they are of Huguenot manufacture and of an outstanding maker such as Paul de Lamerie. Excellent colour. Weight 640 grams, 20.5 troy ounces. Height 16 cms. Fully marked underneath for London 1730. No makers mark.

A rare George II sterling silver basket of oval form with swing handle. Excellent weight and colour. The basket has a pierced body with a vine decorated cast silver border and it stands on four cast lions paw feet. At this time baskets were used mainly for bread and fruit. The swing handle features a finely modelled animals head to both sides just above the hinges. The centre has a large hand engraved cartouche enclosing an armorial and above is the motto “Luceat et Crescat”. Weight 1600 grams, 51.4 troy oz.
