    A good quality George III sterling silver caddy of plain rectangular design with canted corners. The lift off cap doubles as a tea measure. Hand engraved to one side with a crest, to the other there is a decorative monogram. Weight 152 grams, 4.9 troy ounces. Height 10 cms. Base 6.1 x 4.5 cms. London 1789. Maker John Farnell.

    An outstanding Swiss five-colour gold snuff box of oval form, the cover applied with an octagonal gold panel. The decorative classical scene shows Cupid in a garden filling water at a fountain. Weight 64 grams, just over 2 troy ounces. Top 8×5 cms. Height 2 cms. Makers mark stamped inside cover and side, VR under crown, this maker worked in Paris and Geneva, 1790-1805. Belgian import marks stamped to the side. High grade gold, probably 18 carat.

    A delightful 18th century gilt silver desk set of compact oval shape with a low gallery and tongue and dart border. Complete with inkwell, sander, taperstick box and hand bell. The workmanship of this piece is remarkable. Excellent weight and very high gold finish. There is a hand engraved crest in front of the taperstick of a crown over the initial “L”. Weight 905 grams, 29 troy ounces. Height 12 cms to top of bell. Base 22 x 15.5 cms. Marked underneath with German silver marks for Frankfurt, circa 1790. Maker Schott.

The box has beautiful hand engraved decoration of flower swags, bands of bright cut engraving top and bottom, and an oval cartouche front and back containing an armorial for the Lunden family with crest and motto. The lid has a flush inset hinge and urn shaped finial. Weight 279 grams, 8.9 troy ounces. Base 10.8cm. Height 12.5cm to top of finial. London 1791. Maker Peter and Anne Bateman.     9791 George III Old Sheffield Plate Globe Inkstand

    A rare and collectible conversation piece made in Old Sheffield plate. This elegant novelty inkstand, made to sit on an 18th century Englishman’s desk, is in the form of a globe and by pressing down the top finial the two flaps open to reveal four Bristol blue glass bottles. Two bottles are for ink, one for pounce (a fine powder to dry the ink) and a fourth to keep spare nibs. The centre rim is decorated with swags and lions masks. Height 27cm. Diameter 14cm. The set comprises 6 knives with steel blades, 6 forks with steel two prong tines, and 6 solid silver spoons. Each with a hand engraved crown over a monogram. A very usable set. Marked “13” and with makers initials “IK”. Probably German, circa 1800.

    A rare antique sterling silver wax jack, or go to bed, of rectangular form. Good plain style and gadroon borders. The central wax winder supports the remains of a coil of wax, the end of which is held in place in the centre of the sconce. The small conical snuffer is attached to the top by a long silver chain.
