    An attractive little antique silver casket in the 17th century style with a hinged lid and squirrel finial. The openwork cast body is smothered in cherubs, flower heads and scroll work. Weight 158 grams, 5.1 troy ounces. Height 7.6cm (to top of squirrel). Length 8.4cm. Depth 6.1cm. Unmarked silver. Probably a Dutch marriage box (wedding casket). Circa 1820.

    A lovely little novelty collector’s item. An early 19th century gold vinaigrette modelled as a travelling case. The hinged cover, with a carrying handle, is inscribed ‘Souvenir’. The cover opens to reveal a pierced hinged grille. 2 coloured gold, the body is a rich yellow gold and the flower highlights and body fluting are in copper gold. Approx. measurements – height 2cm (handle extended), length 1.8cm, width 1.5cm. Weight 4.7grams. Circa 1820. Unmarked gold. Continental.

    7831 Pair of Antique Ceremonial Maces in Old Sheffield Plate

    A rare pair of antique ceremonial maces with detachable wooden poles. The silvered globular tops are mounted with very heavy and ornate gilded top pieces decorated with dolphins and with a cross at the top. Height of top pieces 12.5 cms and 15 cms. Height when assembled 87.5 cms and 101 cms. Length of poles 75 cms. Made in Old Sheffield Plate*. Circa 1830.

    An excellent antique silver toothpick holder in the form of a male figure holding up a branch with a peacock. On the body and outstretched wings of the bird are the little holes to put the toothpicks. A very charming piece. Weight 250 grams, 8 troy ounces. Height 21.5 cms. Base 7.7 cms x 7.5 cms. Unmarked silver. Portuguese or possibly South American. Circa 1840.

    A handsome pair of 19th century antique silver on brass oil lamp bases, now mounted as electric table lamps. Excellent quality design with Corinthian capitals, tall reeded columns and square plinths applied with laurel wreaths. The bases retain their original cast iron stability weights. Early Victorian.     A curious little silver container in the form of a small teapot with a serpent spout and handle, four heavy cast eagle feet, and the lid finial modelled as a swan. 19th century. Fantastic decorative quality and heavy gauge silver. Likely to be an oil dispenser (oliera), possibly to fill something like a kettle spirit lamp. Contains 320ml. Weight 519 grams, 16.6 troy ounces. Length 18.5cm from spout to handle. Rome, Italy. Maker Luigi Sciolet. Circa 1840.

    A good quality 19th century silver incense burner with part gilt finish. The hinged lid is pierced and has a decorative finial. The body has unusual hand engraving of mythological figures on a flower and foliate background. Weight 372 grams, 11.9 troy ounces. Height 18 cm. Diameter of base 8.4 cm. Part gilded, the lid is mounted with cast figural rams and has a concealed hinge; the ornamental curved handle finishes with a putti at the base. The liquid pours from a semi concealed aperture at the front. Hand engraved to the base is a family crest, monogram and presentation inscription. Contains 1070 ml. Weight 974 grams, 31.3 troy ounces. The interior of the removable cast head, and the jewelled collar, are gilded. This delightful animal is beautifully modelled and engraved, the quality is very realistic.     Stunning quality. A rare pair of antique sterling silver campaign dining sets, cleverly dismountable, so that everything fits inside the matching drinking cup. Each set consists of a sterling silver fork, spoon and steel knife, all with a handle which unscrews, a silver handled travelling corkscrew and a three section sterling silver condiment barrel. All contained in a sterling silver beaker with all over engine turned decoration. Each piece is silver hallmarked for London 1866 and has monogram engraved in old fashioned script.     8654 Antique Silver Knights on Horse Back

    A fantastic pair of antique German silver table ornaments in the form of large model knights in armour, each astride a galloping horse. Gilded silver (slightly worn) with jewelled beads. The knights have carved bakalite faces and helmets with hinged visors which can be opened and closed; in the right hand they each hold a jousting pole, or lance, and in the left they clasp the horse’s reins. The models are very intricate with many separate pieces assembled together. The bases have a naturalist finish. Although similar in size and stance, these models have slight differences. One horse carries a plume on the crest of its head whereas the other sports a bird figure on the head. Weight 1405 and 1411 grams, total weight 2816 grams, 90.5 troy ounces. Height 25 and 25.5cm. Spread 20cm excluding the lance. Base 16 x 8cm. Maker Johann S Kurz. Hanau, Germany. Circa 1880.

    A beautiful antique Bohemian glass vase with engraved panels around the body with architectural scenes. The front panel contains the figure of a Greek deity and there are names etched below the panels. The silver lid is mounted with an entwined serpent and an inset piece of mother of pearl. Height 15.5 cms. Diameter of top 7.5 cms. The lid is marked on the edge with “TF”. Austro Hungarian. Circa 1880.

    A fine continental silver and rock crystal centrepiece representing the Birth of Venus. The silver has coloured enamel detail and the figural work is excellent. Fantastic large size and complete with the original leather carrying case. The central stem is modelled as a silver merman holding a rock crystal sphere containing an enamel seascape representing Venus emerging from a shell. The orb, with silver and enamel mounts, supports a merman blowing a horn. Height 33cm. Diameter of base 12.2cm. Probably Austrian. Late 19th century.

The whole frame has magnificent applied decoration in the rococo revival style; the cast pendant floral sprays to the border are particularly stunning.     A beautiful pair of antique opera glasses made of gilt brass metal and enamel. The binocular tops and extension knob are made of real mother of pearl. The pink enamel barrels are covered in gilt stars and have beaded cartouches and borders containing hand painted sprays of multi coloured flowers. The underside is inscribed “REG Armstrong 14.August 1884”. Measures – width 10.4 cm, closed height 6.3 cm, extended height 8.5 cm. Probably French. Circa 1884.
