Stunning quality. A rare pair of antique sterling silver campaign dining sets, cleverly dismountable, so that everything fits inside the matching drinking cup. Each set consists of a sterling silver fork, spoon and steel knife, all with a handle which unscrews, a silver handled travelling corkscrew and a three section sterling silver condiment barrel. All contained in a sterling silver beaker with all over engine turned decoration. Each piece is silver hallmarked for London 1866 and has monogram engraved in old fashioned script. A delightful antique sterling silver mug with embossed decoration of children and putti. Fantastic quality, even the handle is in the form of a putti, and there are face masks around the base. To the front is an ornamental cartouche (uninscribed). Original interior gilding. No detail has been spared in the manufacture and the mug even has a double skin so that the embossed detail is hidden on the inside. Weight 341 grams, 10.9 troy ounces. Height 9.50 cms. A very rare and prestigious item. This magnificent gilt silver armada jug and stand was presented in honour of the Guildhall banquet for the Prince and Princess of Wales’s return from India. The tall jug, of vase shape form, has bands of classical motifs and ribbing, the centre with deep relief swags of ribbons and fruit with centre medallions. This superb decoration is repeated on the matching base which has a raised central dome decorated with the Prince of Wales feathers. The front of the basin has a large presentation inscription dated 1876. Weight – ewer 908 grams, basin 1258 grams, total 2166 grams, 69.6 troy ounces. Jug – height36cm, spread 14cm. 8654 Antique Silver Knights on Horse Back

A fantastic pair of antique German silver table ornaments in the form of large model knights in armour, each astride a galloping horse. Gilded silver (slightly worn) with jewelled beads. The knights have carved bakalite faces and helmets with hinged visors which can be opened and closed; in the right hand they each hold a jousting pole, or lance, and in the left they clasp the horse’s reins. The models are very intricate with many separate pieces assembled together. The bases have a naturalist finish. Although similar in size and stance, these models have slight differences. One horse carries a plume on the crest of its head whereas the other sports a bird figure on the head. Weight 1405 and 1411 grams, total weight 2816 grams, 90.5 troy ounces. Height 25 and 25.5cm. Fantastic large size and complete with the original leather carrying case. The central stem is modelled as a silver merman holding a rock crystal sphere containing an enamel seascape representing Venus emerging from a shell. The shaped rim was monteith style which was originally used to hold stem glasses, punch ladle and lemon squeezer (the top of an original monteith is also detachable). To the front there is an engraved crest of a standing cat with the motto “Touch Not the Cat Bot a Glove”*. To the front there is a presentation inscription**.
