    Antique Russian silver salt of traditional form with hinged seat and bracket feet. The arched back is pierced and engraved in foliate and floral motifs, additional engraved floral decorations around the seat. Gilt interior. Weight 92 grams, 2.9 troy ounces. Height 10.5 cms.     A rare and stunning set of antique dessert cutlery made from antique Japanese kosuka handles with English sterling silver blades. 36 pieces, 18 knives and 18 forks, all fitted in a solid wood box with velvet lining. The shibuichi* metal handles are very beautiful; with bronze, copper, silver and gold patination and having raised, inlaid decorative motifs such as figures, fish, dragons etc; some are very interesting such as the man ploughing a field with a horse, fishermen at sea in a boat. Knives – length 21 cms, Sheffield 1900, maker Allen & Darwin. Forks – length 18 cms (1 fork is 17 cms), Sheffield 1898, maker George Edward & Sons. The handles are earlier, most likely circa 1880.

    An excellent copy of an old English lidded porringer in sterling silver. Decorated to the main body and lid with typical Stuart period decoration, it has large embossed and engraved flowers, a lion to one side and a unicorn to the other. To each side is a scroll handle topped with a cherub’s head. Weight 772 grams, 24.8 troy ounces. Height 16 cm (to top of lid finial), 12 cm (to top of handle). Diameter 13 cm. Spread 21 cm.     9028 Antique Nepalese Silver Teapot

    A large antique Tibetan or Nepalese silver teapot with a domed lid, originally attached with a chain, and matching teapot stand. Very heavy gauge silver. Interesting style combining both Indian and Chinese influences. The handle is modelled as a dragon’s head with a curved neck and scales, the spout has animal decoration, the body has traces of an engraved or embossed decoration. The teapot has an unusual base formation (see photos) which sits onto an elaborate matching stand. The lid and teapot stand both have a decorative circular motif. Contains 1400 ml. Weight 1393 grams, 44.7 troy ounces. Height 21 cms. Spread 29 cms. Stamped underneath with 2 characters, probably the makers mark. Circa 1900.
