A fine antique sterling silver serving dish and cover with a turned wood carrying handle and central divider. Excellent quality and good gauge silver as you’d expect from this world famous English silversmith. Elegant plain styling with shaped shell and scroll borders. The lid has a magnificent hand engraved armorial within a scroll cartouche and the base and central divider ring bear a double crest. The decorative lid handle is removable to use the lid as a serving dish. The double skinned base is a warming jacket and the handle unscrews to fill it with hot water. An antique gilt silver bowl of large size and exceptionally heavy weight; this excellent quality is just as you’d expect from a master silversmith trained by the world famous Paul Storr. Raised on a pedestal foot and having hinged lions mask side handles, this oval wine cooler takes two bottles. The deep relief applied decoration is covered in grape and vine leaf ornament, the centre ovals have a Bacchanalian scene with cherubs, a goat and an impish Bacchus, to either side there is a large bird and dolphin. An outstanding quality antique silver coffee pot of gourd form, the body depicting Dutch tavern scenes after David Teniers, deeply chased in relief. Made by Edward Farrell, one of the most innovative silversmiths of the day. The fabulous spout, in the form of a dragon with outstretched wings, is very rare and unrecorded. The drunken revellers are drinking, playing music and dancing in the company of serving wenches, dogs and a caged bird. The lid finial depicts a man reclining with his dog, drinking and smoking a long pipe. This very heavy pot weighs 1394 grams, 44.8 troy ounces. Height 25.5cm. Spread 22.5cm. London 1818. The applied lions mask mounts and paw feet are of excellent quality. Each has, to the front and back, a large hand engraved armorial supported by a lion and griffin.
