    A rare antique silver cup of tapering form on a small applied foot; the curved flutes on the lower body were a popular decoration from the reign of William & Mary through to Queen Anne. This cup never had a handle and was probably intended for drinking tea or coffee. There are faint traces of the original gilding. Contains 150 ml. Weight 108 grams, 2.1 troy ounces. Height 6.5cm. Diameter of top 7.5cm. London 1689. Maker “OG” – see Jacksons page 129.

    A rare early English sterling silver porringer hand engraved with the charming decoration of Chinese figures, birds, foliage etc. This chinoiserie decoration was popular over about a ten year period towards the end of the 17th century – it is rarely found and adds considerably to the piece. Excellent colour. Contains 330 ml. Weight 156 grams, 5 troy ounces. Height 7.5 cms. Spread 14.75 cms. Diameter 9 cms. London 1690. Maker TC* (see Jacksons Pickering version Page 133).

    A delightful little collector’s piece. A charming little antique silver cup with two side handles and the tulip decoration typical of the William & Mary period. The body has a border of hand chased fish scale and impressed tulip ornament, the base also has the tulip design within a prick dot circle. This is an exact copy of a full size original.     10186 William and Mary Antique Hull Silver Tumbler Cup

    A rare item of English provincial silver from Hull in the North of England. An antique silver tumbler cup of simple plain design. Good gauge silver and excellent patina. The round and weighted base allows the cup to stay upright when knocked from side to side. This example, typical of Hull silver tumblers, has a flatter base than those made in London. To the front is a hand engraved armorial with a badger crest for the Brooke family. To the reverse are owner’s initials “AD to IS”.  Contains  170 ml. Weight  116 grams, 3.7 troy ounces.     A very unusual antique silver chocolate cup of tapering form on a small applied foot; the simple “S” scroll handle having a beaded rat-tail decoration. The body has four panels of hand applied matting work. This rare little cup was made for drinking hot chocolate, the newly discovered drinking beverage popular c.1680-1720 – see the coloured illustration. Contains 155ml.     A 17th century silver cup and matching cover with original bright gilt interior. With ovolo borders and chased acanthus leaves. The lid has a small pine cone finial. Probably ecclesiastical, a pyx box. Weight 214 grams, 6.8 troy ounces. Height 12 cms, 16.5 cms to top of finial). Diameter 9.5 cms. The edge of the base has the cross key town mark for Rome, Italy.     A rare antique solid silver chalice dating to circa 1700. Over 300 years old and in very good condition. Good original gilt finish. The decorative form is typical of German drinking cups of this period, the cup could also possibly be Italian. The shaped globular bowl and foot have embossed decoration with face masks and fruit, the top has a hand chased scroll border, and the centre column is mounted with 3 cast scrollwork ornaments with figureheads. Contains 200 ml. Weight 365 grams, 11.7 troy ounces. Height 20 cms. Diameter – top 6.5 cms, foot 9 cms.
