    Sold

    Of sporting interest. An antique sterling silver mounted flask of conical shape with a fitted silver drinking cup with gilt interior. The top has a swivel bayonet fitting. Together with the original dark mahogany coloured leather case, the girth strap is attached so that the flask will sit on the near-side of the saddle. Flask height 22.5cm, diameter of base 4.8cm. Birmingham 1900. Maker E.W.C.

    A stunning pair of antique wall mirrors of tall shaped form (girandoles), each mounted with two pairs of candle sconces. Decorated in the flamboyant rococo style, the scrolling high relief ornament has fretwork, sea foam and stalactites. Mounted at the top is a winged cherub and below the mirror is a figural plaque. Height 65 cm. Width 34 cm. Mirror height 30 cm, width 18 cm. Probably French. Circa 1900.

    A good quality German silver model of a horse with the rider dressed in armour and having a bakelite face. Good figurative detail. The base and harness are studded with coloured stones. Made of gilt brass metal with real mother of pearl binocular tops and handle, the body and handle mounts with pretty yellow enamel decoration. Small size.     A charming model of a German shepherd dog in sterling silver. Large size. Very realistic. Beautiful expressive face. He’s standing in a relaxed, somewhat expectant pose, with his tongue out and tail outstretched. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, you can even see where the fur has been ruffled by his stud collar. Heavy gauge silver. Weight 690 grams, 22.1 troy ounces. Height 15.6cm. Spread 20.8cm.     A splendid antique silver drinks flask in the form of a standing bear with outstretched paws. Excellent quality and heavy gauge cast silver. Very pleasing design with lifelike detail in the face and all-over chased fur. The head is removable so that the body can be used as a decanter and the head as a cup; it pours beautifully. The interior is gilded. Contains 1 litre. Weight 1407 grams, 45.2 troy ounces. Height 24.5cm. Width between the paws 13.5cm. German Hanau silver marks. Probably Neresheimer. Circa 1900.

    A very attractive 19th century novelty silver fish with green glass eyes and articulated body. The fish opens into a box at the neck and has an unusual snap shut mechanism.     A beautiful antique silver epergne set with a matching pair of tall dishes. The pierced decoration is particularly attractive with flowers, scrolls and heart shaped ornament. The epergne has five bowls which can be detached and used separately. The pair of tazzas are raised on tall decorative feet and have a shaped cast border. There is a presentation inscription on the centrepiece front and all the dishes are engraved to the centre with a monogram of entwined letters in old fashioned script. Total weight 3,153g, 101.3 troy oz.

This plain baluster style with a domed lid and octagonal panelling was the first form of teapot introduced into England.
