    An excellent quality pair of antique silver spoons with figural ends depicting a classical lady culminating in a twisted handle possibly resembling a mermaids tail. The gilded bowl is attached with a fruit encrusted mount. These delightful spoons are very heavy and have a chunky feel. Traces of gilding all over. Weight 179 grams, 5.7 troy ounces. Length 18 cms. Marked on the back of the bowl with a hand mark. Probably German. Circa 1800.

    A very collectible antique silver snuff mull with a silver hinged lid and chain. The horn body is in excellent condition. On the front is an inscription dated 1838.Length 17.5 cms. Diameter of top 3 cms at widest point. Marked inside lid with a continental silver stamp – CLNU SILBER. Probably Swedish and circa 1830.

    A rare Irish provincial sterling silver serving spoon with highly sought after Limerick marks. Excellent plain style with the pointed terminal, typical of the late 18th century. The end is hand engraved with with a crest and the motto “Pro Rege, Lege Grege” (Latin for ‘For King, Law and People’). Weight 98 grams, 3.1 troy ounces. Length 33 cms. Width 5 cms. Marked on the back of the handle with the makers mark WFG for William Fitzgerald (worked at Mary Street and 15, Patrick Street, Limerick 1794-1824) and “STERLING”.

    A rare antique solid silver chalice dating to circa 1700. Over 300 years old and in very good condition. Good original gilt finish. The decorative form is typical of German drinking cups of this period, the cup could also possibly be Italian. The shaped globular bowl and foot have embossed decoration with face masks and fruit, the top has a hand chased scroll border, and the centre column is mounted with 3 cast scrollwork ornaments with figureheads. Contains 200 ml. Weight 365 grams, 11.7 troy ounces. Height 20 cms. Diameter – top 6.5 cms, foot 9 cms. Marked on the edge of the foot rim with makers mark “PS” for Philipp Stenglin, town mark and assay scrape. Continental. Circa 1700.

The stem and foot have hand engraved decoration, the foot with a crucifixion scene. Excellent colour and workmanship. Contains 150 ml. Weight 303 grams, 9.7 troy ounces. Height 17cm. This lovely castor is of heavy quality and feels good in the hand. The base is plain styled with fluted borders, the top is simply pierced, the holes are quite large as crushed loaf sugar was still in use at this early date. Uninscribed.     An important pair of antique sterling silver plates with plain styling and magnificent shell and gadroon borders. Excellent quality and manufacture as you’d expect from this world famous silversmith. Hand engraved to the top and bottom rim there are two crests and mottos for the Marquis of Londonderry* and the Order of the Bath. The underside bears the pattern number 820. Total weight 1515 grams, 48.7 troy ounces. Diameter 26.25 cms. London 1813. This handsome pair of ambassadorial silver plates were made by the celebrated London silversmith Paul Storr (1771-1844) for 1st Baron Charles William Stewart, later 3rd Marquess of Londonderry (1778-1854), on his appointment as ambassador at Vienna on 27 August 1814.
