    A beautiful pair of antique opera glasses made of gilt brass metal and enamel. The binocular tops and extension knob are made of real mother of pearl. The pink enamel barrels are covered in gilt stars and have beaded cartouches and borders containing hand painted sprays of multi coloured flowers. The underside is inscribed “REG Armstrong 14.August 1884”. Measures – width 10.4 cm, closed height 6.3 cm, extended height 8.5 cm. Probably French. Circa 1884.     A magnificent large antique sterling silver wine jug in the traditional form of an Armada jug. Very elegant design on a pedestal foot. Suitable for both hot and cold drinks. The hinged lid, with ornate flower and scroll finial, opens by squeezing the handle mechanism. Beautifully chased with flowers, scrolls and leaves, the jug has a cartouche to both sides (uninscribed). The front has an applied animals head and to either side of each cartouche there is a winged classical figure with arms extended. Weight 943 grams, 30.3 troy ounces. Height 31.5cm. Spread 14.5cm.     A handsome antique sterling bowl in the early 18th century style with lions mask side handles, typical ribbed body decoration and decorative cartouches. The shaped rim was monteith style which was originally used to hold stem glasses, punch ladle and lemon squeezer (the top of an original monteith is also detachable). To the front there is an engraved crest of a standing cat with the motto “Touch Not the Cat Bot a Glove”*. To the front there is a presentation inscription**.     An outstanding quality antique sterling silver tea service of gourd shape, depicting Teniers style Dutch tavern scenes. The sides are deeply chased in relief, the handles cast as drunken peasants perched on tree branches, the teapot and coffee pot with ivory insulators and drunken figure finials, original pale gilt interiors. The drunken revellers are drinking, playing music, playing cards, womanising; there is a mother and child, even a giant dog. Every scene is different. The teapot and milk jug a have Bacchus face mask mounted spout. This very heavy set weighs 4,024 grams, 129.3 troy ounces. Teapot height 19.5 cms, spread 26 cms.
