An attractive little Tibetan or Nepalese silver teapot with a domed lid attached with a chain. Interesting style combining both Indian and Chinese influences. The handle is modelled as a dragon’s head and curving neck, the body has both engraved and embossed decoration. Contains 200 ml. Weight 247 grams, 7.9 troy ounces. Height 12 cms. Spread 16 cms. Stamped on the top edge of the lid with 2 symbols, probably the makers mark. Circa 1900.

A 19th century Russian (Georgia) silver filigree casket of rectangular form and raised on four scroll feet. The quality of the filigree work is exquisite. The hinged lid with domed centre has an applied flower to each corner and to the centre. There is a folding catch to the front and swing handles either side. Weight 234 grams, 7.5 troy oz. 7125 Victorian Silver Plated Travelling Picnic Set

From a design by Dr Christopher Dresser. An antique silver plated automobile set beautifully arranged with many of the pieces slotting inside each other. All in the original leather covered carrying case. Each piece with an engraved monogram and crest. There is a similar set by Dr Christopher Dresser in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (see photos). Kettle height 9 cms (14.5 cms with handle), contains 1 pint. Teapot height 7.5 cms, contains half a pint. Stamped underneath with silver plate stamps for Hukin and Heath, a design number and a Victorian registration mark. Circa 1890.

7471 Antique Silver and "Raeren" Stoneware Jug

An antique English amphora jug or vase in the manner of Jan Emens Mennicken, German, 1540–1593, the body with decorative armorial medallions dated 1588 and 1594, the 3 handles dated 1590. With a sterling silver foot and collar and a detachable silver lid. This jug was in the collection of Sir Charles Jackson, the author of the esteemed book on English silver hallmarks. Height 38 cms. Spread across handles 18 cms. Diameter of base 12 cms. Makers mark only – “IM” over a billet and pellet. The silver marks are recorded in Jacksons for 1594 however the vase is a later copy circa 1890 by Hubert Schiffer. Schiffer ran a small workshop in Raeren specialising in copies of renaissance originals. Examples of his work are rare and were often damaged on purpose to make them look ‘authentic’. There is a similar vase in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (see accompanying documentation).

Of horse racing interest. A superb pair of large antique sterling silver presentation vases with covers. Each trophy has a tall vase shape on a pedestal foot and flying side handles. The embossed decoration is particularly fine with ribbons and swags of harebells, there is a band of acanthus leaves around the bottom. Each side there is a plaited ribbon cartouche containing, to the front, a coat of arms with crest and to the back, a presentation inscription. These vases, or chestnut urns, are very large and suitable to stand a bottle inside. Weight 1784 grams and 1705 grams, total 3489 grams, 112.1 troy ounces. Height 40 cms with lid, 29.2 cms without lid. Spread across the handles 23 cms. Stamped with a full set of matching English silver hallmarks on each vase and each lid for London 1896.
