    7206 Antique Dutch Silver Caster

    A very charming antique silver sugar castor of vase shape with classical roundels, swags, face mounts and a pineapple finial. Very heavy quality – sits well in the hand. The top is not detachable, the sugar is filled from underneath and would originally have had a cork (supplied). Weight 181 grams, 5.8 troy ounces. Height 16 cm. Marked underneath with the Dutch dolphin duty mark*. Circa 1860.

    7991 Antique Dutch Gold Scent Bottle

    A rare and delightful antique scent bottle with a decorative gold mount. Excellent quality. In the original fitted box. The beautiful gold mounted top has a hand engraved design with a classical Greek key border and scroll work additions, inside the hinged top there is a small glass stopper. The oval shaped body is made of multi faceted rock crystal and typically of the period, has a rounded base which was made to lie down. Bottle height 10 cms. Width 4.25 cms. Stamped on the mount with a small Dutch gold mark, circa 1860.

    A rare antique silver chalice of plain form, the stem and underbody having an unusual naturalistic design of acorns and foliage. Very thick gauge cast silver. Contains 865 ml. Weight 519 grams, 16.6 troy ounces. Height 17 cm. Diameter 9.2 cm. Marked on the bottom rim with Indian silver marks for Hamilton & Co, Calcutta. Circa 1860. A very similar style of goblet was made in England during the 1860’s by John Samuel Hunt and retailed by ‘Hunt & Roskell Late Storr & Mortimer’.

    A spectacular antique silver centrepiece and candelabra, the tall column and arms formed as a grapevine with entwined branches supporting vine leaves and bunches of grapes. The cut crystal bowl and the candle nozzles are all detachable. This decorative item is perfect for fruit, flowers and sweets. Engraved to the base with a presentation inscription from H.G Mytton of Cleobury North. Dismantles into 3 pieces by unscrewing the bowl holder at the top. Weight 2755 grams, 88.6 troy ounces. With 2 decorative leaf plates, a beautifully shaped and decorative handle and a pedestal base embossed with flowers. Weight 1422 grams, 45.7 troy ounces.     8145 Antique Silver Travelling Lamp

    Sold

    A fine quality antique sterling silver travelling or carriage lamp by Orton & Houle, neatly designed so that it can be carried for travel. To use the lamp, lift the lid and pull out the hinged front cover to reveal the candle holder behind a glass panel. The lamp can then either be hung from the suspension hooks, or placed standing up by pulling down the base. Next to the base there is a cylindrical vesta case, with a drop down hinged cover for matches and a match striker. A nice feature is the candle holder which has a spring fitting allowing the candle to be pushed up as the candle burns down. Stamped on the main cover with full English silver hallmarks for London 1863. Maker and retailer Ortner & Houle, 3 St James St, SW London.

    A lovely little antique sterling silver teapot with hinged lid and flower finial. Nice small size. Circular ribbed form and hand engraved deep borders with scroll decoration. To the front there is a hand engraved crest of a bird above the motto “mea gloria fides” meaning “our faith in glory”. Contains 650 ml. Weight 421 grams, 13.5 troy ounces. The detailed workmanship on these is quite exceptional and they sit very well in the hand. The shells retain the original gilding.     Stunning quality. A rare pair of antique sterling silver campaign dining sets, cleverly dismountable, so that everything fits inside the matching drinking cup. Each set consists of a sterling silver fork, spoon and steel knife, all with a handle which unscrews, a silver handled travelling corkscrew and a three section sterling silver condiment barrel. All contained in a sterling silver beaker with all over engine turned decoration. Each piece is silver hallmarked for London 1866 and has monogram engraved in old fashioned script.
