An elegant antique sterling silver coffee pot of plain design with a shaped body on pedestal foot and bead borders. Lovely classical style typical of this sought after English lady silversmith. The pot has a border of bright cut decoration around the top and to the front and back there is a decorative cartouche with ribbons and foliate swags, one containing an animal crest. Contains 1050 ml. Weight 880 grams, 28.2 troy ounces. Height 29 cms. Spread 22 cms. Sterling silver. London 1781. Maker Hester Bateman.

A late-17th/early-18th century Danish silver peg tankard of plain cylindrical form raised on three stylish pomegranate ball feet. Large size and heavy weight. The domed cover is deeply embossed with a decorative border of foliate scrolls around a central hand engraved armorial dated 1701, the scroll handle has a thumb piece modelled as a rampant lion holding a large ball. Contains 2000ml. Weight 1443gms, 46.4 troy oz. Height 22.5cm (9ins). Diameter of top 15 cms (6 ins). Marked underneath with the initials “CK” for Christian Knudsen, Denmark, active 1698-1718.

The cinquefoil frame has 4 shell feet and a shaped decorative cartouche to the front. Total weight of silver 1143 grams, 36.7 troy ounces. Caster height 16.5 and 13 cms. Bottles height 16.25 cms. London 1750/1. All by the same maker Jabez Daniel, who later worked with James Mince.

8073 Antique Spanish Silver Neff Sailing Ship

This is a superb solid silver galleon ship, known as a Nef, with 3 tall masts having multi section sails, manned crows nests, flags and rigging. Many parts of the ship are gilded. Each mast has a man climbing up a tall ladder. The captain is standing on the deck behind the rear mast. Around the edge of the deck there is a gallery with port holes.
The top section of the Neff can be removed from the hull and is held in position by 2 small clips. The hull of the ship is finely embossed with cherubs and scrolls and the interior is gilded. The ship has 8 cannons and stands on four decorative wheels.
Weight 1187 grams, 38.1 troy ounces. Height 38.5 cms. Spread 34.5 cms. Top of the hull measures 27.5 x 12 cms. The rudder is stamped with Spanish silver marks, the assay town and pentagram quality mark. The silver grade is “915”. Circa 1930.

A rare figural snuff box in the form of a man’s head; complete with long straggly beard, large ears and night cap. Probably Old Man Time. The smooth, hinged back opens to take the snuff. The quality and definition of the decoration is very good and the box sits very well in the hand. Weight 34 grams, 1.09 troy ounces. Length 7 cms. Width (max) 5 cms. Sterling silver. Fully marked on the back above the hinge with English silver hallmarks for Sheffield 1828. Maker probably William Nowell.

8062 Antique French Silver Oil and Vinegar Set

An excellent quality antique silver condiment bottle set. The boat shaped stand has rope twist borders and decorative pierced ends with applied leaf and grape mounts. The cut crystal oil and vinegar bottles have faceted necks and pretty raised bow ornaments. The heavy silver bottle tops fit snugly and sit into the holders on the side of the stand when the bottles are in use. There is a good armorial engraved within the cartouche on the front of the stand. Weight of frame 652 grams, 20.9 troy ounces. Stand measures – length 31 cms, width 17 cms. Total height 20 cms. Marked on every piece with French silver stamps for Paris 1785.

The front is very beautiful having a pierced silver decoration, with a bird and flowers, over an inset panel of mother of pearl. The dial is very pretty and has multi coloured decoration. The hinged back panel opens to access the watch type movement. Height 10 cm. Width 5.5 cm. Marked inside the hinged panel with German silver marks, crown and moon, and the silver grade 800. To the left there is a small square mark with a wheel inside which may be the makers mark. Circa 1900

A very rare early English silver snuffers and stand with an octagonal stepped base and baluster stem. *Britannia standard silver. The cut corner square base has the typical style of the candlesticks of this period. The snuffer scissors, or wick trimmers, sit long ways in the stand. Both scissors and stand have identical hand engraved crests of a gauntlet holding up a crown. Total weight 317 grams, 10.2 troy ounces. Height 17.5 cms. Stand height 11.25 cms, base diameter 8 cms. Scissors length 14.25 cms. Both pieces have English silver hallmarks for London 1707. Maker Thomas Folkingham.

A very smart antique silver tray of oval shape with a bevelled glass centre and silver ball feet. The pierced silver gallery has a bead border, interlaced scroll design and inset carrying handles. Underneath the border is reinforced with a brass ring. Length 56.5 cm. Width 42 cm. Height 6 cm. Stamped on the side of the handles with Dutch silver marks and the date letter “L” for 1845. Silver grade 934 (this is purer than sterling silver which is 925 parts out of 1000).
