    A lovely little antique sterling silver teapot with hinged lid and flower finial. Nice small size. Circular ribbed form and hand engraved deep borders with scroll decoration. To the front there is a hand engraved crest of a bird above the motto “mea gloria fides” meaning “our faith in glory”. Contains 650 ml. Weight 421 grams, 13.5 troy ounces.     An antique silver model of a windmill mounted on a wine cup. Hand engraved. Beautifully constructed with multiple moving parts. The windmill house is reached by a staircase with two sculptured figures climbing up, on one side there is a man peeping out of a small window. The revolving windmill sails connect to the clock hands on the other side and both move together. The roof is mounted with a revolving flag, a tiny bird and a sculptured finial. There is a horn which is non-functional. Weight 203 grams, 6.5 troy ounces. Height 22.5 cm. Diameter of cup 8.5 cm. Fully stamped with Dutch silver marks fpr Amsterdam. Circa 1890.

Naturalistic bark handles and lots of quirky detail like the little man on top of the shell feet, the tray handle and the mustard top.     A magnificent pair of antique silver plated salts cast in the form of Neptune and his wife Amphitrite both riding on dolphins. Large size and excellent quality. Each figure is carrying a raised shell which forms the salt container (gilded inside). Heavy weight. The rocky design bases are encrusted with shells and other marine foliage and within the decoration each has a silver plate stamp. Circa 1860. Probably by Richard Hodd & William Linley.

The decoration is particularly good with deep relief chased flowers, leaves and scrolls and there’s a large cartouche to front and back with a crest and a military inscription from the Bath Troop N.S.Y.C 1893.     A charming plain design double coaster trolley with the unusual feature of a pair of carved wooden wheels underneath. Very nicely made with bead borders, side handles and central buttons with a hand engraved monogram. To the centre there are two scroll holders which hold the decanter stoppers. Total spread across handles 37 cms. Coaster diameter 14 cms. Height 5.5 cms, 8 cms to top of handle. Circa 1820. Old Sheffield plate.

    7776 Antique German Silver Neff Sailing Ship

    Sold

    This is a superb solid silver galleon ship, known as a Nef), with a tall mast having multi section sails, a manned crows nest and rigging. The deck is beautifully modelled with people and equipment – to the rear the captain is steering the ship’s wheel with a lantern behind him, and on the prow a sailor is standing next to the ships cannon, the anchor hangs below. Around the edge of the deck there is a pierced gallery decorated with cherubs and flowers.

    The top section of the Neff can be removed from the hull. The hull of the ship is finely chased with cherubs and leaves, flowers and scrolls and the interior is gilded. The ship stands on four decorative wheels.

    Weight 577 grams, 18.5 troy ounces. Height 24.5 cms. Spread 25 cms. Top of the hull measures 18 x 6 cms. The hull has a set of German hallmarks with maker’s mark for Neresheimer. The bottom edge of the top section has the silver grade “13”. Circa 1900.

    An antique dish cover of curved rectangular form in Old Sheffield plate. Good size. Handsome plain design with a gadroon ring border and decorative handle. Hand engraved to both sides is a lion crest on a chequered background within a decorative cartouche – all within an inset silver shield. Lovely crisp borders. Height 25 cms. Length 40 cms. Width 31 cms. Marked inside the handle with the double sun mark for Matthew Boulton, probably the most well known of all Old Sheffield plate makers. Circa 1820.

    A rare piece of English provincial silver. A large and impressive antique sterling silver jug of bellied shape on a flat foot, having a plain body and squared handle. The top and spout have decorative borders and broad bands of foliage, chains and dot engraving. To the front there is a hand engraved foliate cartouche containing a monogram of entwined initials in old fashioned script. Excellent patina and hand beaten finish. Contains 2450 ml. Weight 773 grams, 24.8 troy ounces. Height 20 cms. Spread 21.75 cms. Diameter of top 10 cms. London 1801. Maker Hampston, Princes & Cattles. It is rare to find both the York town and makers mark.
