    A superb antique sterling silver cup and cover with steeple top. Gilt silver. Outstanding quality and decorative detail. The base has a presentation inscription to the actress Anna Neagle from the popular magazine Picturegoer and Film Weekly for her performance in Courtneys of Curzon Street 1947.     8471 Antique Scottish Silver Quaich

    Sold

    A very good Scottish provincial silver and horn quaich, the two side handles mounted with amethyst or citrine glass jewels. The cup is inset with a silver disc engraved ‘Squab asi’, a Gaelic phrase meaning ‘Sweep it up’, a much used toast in the Highlands of Scotland meaning “Drink heartily, with gusto”. Length 13.7 cms. Diameter 7.3 cms. Height 2.7 cms. Hallmarked silver for Edinburgh 1910. Made by William Dunningham & Co. of Aberdeen.

    An excellent set of antique sterling silver cutlery in the popular Kings pattern. Each piece has an engraved initial “C”. Total 84 pieces including 2 sets of silver handled knives. Weight 4049 grams, 130 troy ounces (excluding the knives). Sheffield 1910-16 except the knives and 3 dessert spoons and 3 tea spoons which are 1960s. All flatware by maker Mappin & Webb. Knives by maker E Viner.

    8711 Antique Indian Silver Teapot

    Of colonial interest. A delightful antique silver teapot with embossed decoration all over of a hunting scene. With an elephant finial and stylised elephant handle and spout. The body has an interesting decoration of a jungle inhabited by elephants, lions and wild cows; to one side there is an elephant, with his mahout, and riding on the howdah* a hunter is taking aim at a group of lions, on the other side the man on horseback is shooting a gun and is accompanied by his hunting dog. Weight 547 grams, 17.5 troy ounces. Height 11 (to top of finial). Spread 23.5 cms. Stamped underneath with Indian silver marks for Bombay. Circa 1900.

    A fantastic decorator’s item. This stylish bar set in the form of a ship’s bucket has a coopered body made of solid wood panels held together with silver plated metal bands and has a chunky rope handle. Holds up to 3 standard wine bottles. The multi-purpose bottom section swivels out and can be used to contain bar items, bottle openers, cigars, playing cards etc. Above the swivel drawer, engraved to the silver plated band, are the British patent numbers “Rd90495 DEPOSE Rd90496”. Height 25.5 cms. Diameter 21 cms. Made in England. Circa 1910.

    A fine and impressive antique solid silver cigarette case with a superb figural scene to the front, in hand coloured enamel, of a seated monk and a pretty young woman. The reverse side has a stripy engine turned decoration. The case opens with a push operated catch and the inside has its original gilding and 2 retaining bands. Weight 106 grams, 3.3 troy ounces. Measures 8 x 6.5 cms. Marked on the inside edge with Austrian silver stamps “sterling silver” and 935. Circa 1910.

    An excellent quality antique silver vase modelled after the famous Roman antiquity discovered at Tivoli during the 18th century. Heavy gauge silver and exquisite detail. Small size. Of typical campana form with entwined vine handles, the vase is applied with Bacchanalian heads and flaming torches, below which there is a lion’s head and paws to front and back on a background of hand executeded lion’s “fur”.     A good quality antique silver bowl having 6 decorated panels and a blank cartouche to the front. The embossed panels are covered with characterful scenes depicting Jakarta scenes, an elephant and sage vindura-pandita, figures pulled in a horse drawn chariot, a figure asleep in a tree, a water carrier pursued by a Chinthe, figures pouring tea in front of buildings, each reserved in strapwork with foliate scrolls and vignettes infilled with devas (celestial sprites).
