A large and substantial figure of a silver rider on horseback. Excellent quality and heavy gauge. Original gilt finish and jewelling to the clothing and horse harness. Natural stone base. The model is very intricate with many separate pieces assembled together. The head is removable. Weight 1180 grams, 37.9 troy ounces. This weight excludes the onyx base and the two silver hallmarked screw caps. It includes the weight of the two screws soldered to the bottom of the back hooves. Height 28 cm (from base to top of head). Base height 3 cm, length 24 cm, width 13 cm. Marked on the head, harness and horse tail with London import marks for 1896, maker Edwin Thompson Bryant.

An antique silver cream jug in the form of a model cow. The flap with a bee on the cow’s back lifts to fill the jug with cream which is poured out of the cow’s mouth. Simple figuring and naive expressive face. Weight 136 grams, 4.3 troy ounces. Height 9.8 cms. Length 14.6 cms. Marked on the body underneath the flap with continental silver marks, probably Dutch. Circa 1920.

A rare pair of tall antique silver candlesticks, the circular bases hand engraved with the Granville coat of arms within a foliate and scroll cartouche. Cast Britannia* standard silver. Total weight 1590 grams, 51.1 troy ounces. Height 22.1 cm. Base diameter 15 cm. The first candlestick is from the William III period, dated 1701 by Pierre Platel. The second candlestick is an exact copy made in the George II period, dated 1726 by David Willaume. Both highly respected Huguenot makers.

Decorated to the main body and lid with typical Stuart period decoration, it has large embossed and engraved flowers, a lion to one side and a unicorn to the other. A rare early English silver flat top lidded tankard in sterling silver with a scroll handle and decorative thumb piece. Circa 1640 is the earliest date at which this tankard shape occurs and it’s unusual to find a tankard from this turbulent period and early date. Very charming with small size and hand beaten silver the tankard displays a lot of character; a nice feature is the pointed front of the lid. Contains 520 ml. Weight 451 grams, 14.5 troy ounces.
