A handsome antique sterling silver pedestal bowl of circular form with half ribbed body and egg and dart border. Excellent quality and heavy gauge silver. This form is very similar to the Warwick Vase shape. The cast wrythen side carrying handles are embellished with vine leaf and grape ornament making it, together with its weight and campana form, very suitable for use as a small size wine cooler. Hand engraved to the front is an armorial within a shield, and to the reverse there is a crest of a leopard. Weight 1646 grams, 52.9 troy ounces. Height 19.5 cms. Diameter 19.5 cms. Spread 29.5 cms. A fine pair of antique sterling silver serving dishes with matching cushion shape covers and magnificent detachable lion mounted ring handles. Elegant plain styling with a broad band of ribbing and gadroon borders. Excellent quality and good gauge silver as you’d expect from this world famous English silversmith. The covers are mounted front and back with royal armorial plaques having the motto “Honi Soit Qui Mal YPense” and the crest of a centaur holding a bow and arrow. These are the arms of the Fitzmaurice family (the Marquesses of Lansdowne). The same armorial is hand engraved to the front and back of the bases. Silver weight 4021 grams, 129 troy ounces. Width 31 cms. Marked inside the handle with the double sun mark for Matthew Boulton, probably the most well known of all Old Sheffield plate makers. Circa 1820.

An exceptionally fine pair of antique sterling silver sauce tureens of oval form on shaped claw feet. The quality and gauge of silver needs to be seen to be believed. Each tureen is decorated with broad shell and gadroon borders and the shell motif is repeated on the handles and feet. Engraved to both sides of each tureen there is a large hand engraved armorial and to each top there’s a double engraved crest. Motto “Je me fie en dieu”. These are the arms of the Windsor family, the royal house of Great Britain. Weight 2599 grams, 83.5 troy ounces. Height 15.5 cms. Spread 24 cms. Length 19 cms. Width 13.5 cms. This handsome pair of ambassadorial silver plates were made by the celebrated London silversmith Paul Storr (1771-1844) for 1st Baron Charles William Stewart, later 3rd Marquess of Londonderry (1778-1854), on his appointment as ambassador at Vienna on 27 August 1814.
