    6638 Antique Silver Knight on Horseback

    A magnificent sterling silver model of a knight in armour mounted on a rearing horse. The knight’s helmet has a hinged visor and inside you can see his carved faux ivory face. Excellent weight and figurative detail. Part gilded on the hoofs, saddle and bridal. Weight 1238 grams, 39.8 troy ounces. Height 21.5 cms (24.5 cms to top of flag). Base 16.5 x 8 cms. Marked on the front edge of the base “STERLING”, 925 and “GERMANY”. Circa 1920.

    An excellent pair of model knights in full armour with hinged visors and carved faux ivory faces. Fantastic workmanship and decorative detail. Each knight has a different suite of armour and carries different weapons – shield, axe, sword, ball and chain. Traces of the original gilding. Total weight 1059 grams, 34 troy ounces. Heights 23, 24.5 cms (with visor closed). Base 7 x 7 cms. Marked around the edge of the base with import marks for London 1920 and Berthold Hermann Muller.

    6635 George I Silver Octagonal Coffee Pot

    This is a rare early antique silver coffee pot from the reign of George I. This handsome pot is made from Britannia standard* grade silver and has the desirable octagonal shape with domed lid. Lovely plain style and a nice feature is the ducks head spout terminal. Also, to the other side there are 2 decorative shaped reinforcement plates where the shaped handle meets the body. Weight 786 grams, 25.2 troy ounces. Height 25 cms. Spread 21 cms. London 1721. Lid with Britannia mark*. Maker, almost certainly, the celebrated Huguenot maker Augustus Courtauld.

    A magnificent show. A rare antique silver plated mirror stand in 5 sections which can be fully assembled in one piece to make a very long mirror, or part assembled to make a smaller plateau. Very smart with a pierced gallery and classical motifs and having the original wooden back. Total length 205 cms. Height 7.5 cms. Probably French. Circa 1900. Silver plated on copper.

Excellent quality and the heaviest type you’ll find at this date. Weight 237 grams, 7.6 troy ounces. Height 2.5 cms. Diameter 7 cms. Marked underneath but the stamps are so indistinct that only the Britannia standard mark can be made out. English. Circa 1700. This design is usually made by Huguenot silversmiths.

    A fine early antique two handled silver cup and cover. Britannia standard silver. With applied strapwork to the body and lid, this is indicative of heavy quality and was a Huguenot innovation. The cup has an excellent weight and handles very well. There is a large armorial engraved to one side, very charming, with 3 leopards – purported to be of the Lippingcott & Wyberry family, Devonshire. Weight 1528 grams, 49.1 troy ounces.     A magnificent large antique sterling silver wine jug of elegant shaped form on pedestal foot. The hinged lid, with ornate flower finial, opens by squeezing the handle mechanism. Beautifully chased with flowers, swirls and leaves, the jug has a cartouche to both sides, one with an engraved crest and motto to the centre. To the front there is a contemporary intertwined monogram engraved within a decorative cartouche. Engraved to the handle there are two initials. Excellent condition and colour.
