    This is a rare early antique silver coffee pot from the reign of George I. This handsome pot is made from Britannia standard* grade silver and has the desirable octagonal shape with domed lid. Lovely plain style and a nice feature is the ducks head spout terminal with hinged flap cover. Extremely heavy quality, this pot feels good in the hand and pours beautifully. Contains 870 ml. Weight 1029 grams, 33 troy ounces. Height 23.5 cms. Spread 22 cms. London 1718. Lid with Britannia mark*. Maker Augustus Courtauld, the celebrated Huguenot maker.

    A rare piece of antique English provincial silver. A Georgian sterling silver punch ladle with an oval shaped bowl and turned wood handle. Length 34 cms. Bowl 7.7 x 5.8 cms. Stamped inside the bowl with a full set of Exeter hallmarks for 1744. Makers mark stylized “MM” for Micon Melun (see Jacksons, mentioned under Falmouth goldsmiths page 317, Pickford edition).

    An antique gilt silver bowl of large size and exceptionally heavy weight; this excellent quality is just as you’d expect from a master silversmith trained by the world famous Paul Storr. Raised on a pedestal foot and having hinged lions mask side handles, this oval wine cooler takes two bottles. The deep relief applied decoration is covered in grape and vine leaf ornament, the centre ovals have a Bacchanalian scene with cherubs, a goat and an impish Bacchus, to either side there is a large bird and dolphin. Weight 4218 grams, 135.6 troy ounces. Top 31 x 23.5cm. Height 18cm. London 1816. Maker John Houle, freeman of the Vintners’ Company. Sterling silver.

    A magnificent antique silver centrepiece of oval form supported by 4 large dolphins. The quality of this piece is excellent. The base has a shaped band of embossed gadroon decoration and the feet are in the form of gush of water ejected from the dophin’s mouth. On top there is a fine quality cut glass bowl. Weight of silver 1528 grams, 49.1 troy ounces. Total height 18 cms. Base 34 x 26.5 cms. Glass bowl 31.5 x 23 cms. German silver stamps crown and moon. Silver fineness “800”*. Circa 1890.

    A handsome antique sterling bowl in the early 18th century style with lions mask side handles, typical ribbed body decoration and decorative cartouches. The shaped rim was monteith style which was originally used to hold stem glasses, punch ladle and lemon squeezer (the top of an original monteith is also detachable). To the front there is an engraved crest of a standing cat with the motto “Touch Not the Cat Bot a Glove”*. To the front there is a presentation inscription**.     8599 Antique German Silver Nef Sailing Ship

    A superb sterling silver galleon ship, known as a Nef, intricately modelled with 2 tall masts having multi section sails and long boom, manned crows nests, flags and rigging. Each mast has a man climbing up a tall ladder. On the upper deck the helmsman is steering the ship while the other sailors carry out their duties. A central staircase connects the two decks. Around the edge is a decorative pierced gallery and below this, the port holes with their cannons ready for battle. There is a large armorial plaque to the rear of the hull with the motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense”.

The top of the hull measures – length 31.5cm x width 14.3 cm (at the widest point).The nef has multiple silver stamps including London import marks, on the bottom edge of the top section and the body of the hull, for 1913. Importer Berthold Muller.
    The top section of the Neff can be removed from the hull. The hull of the ship is realistically engraved with timber effect planks and graining; the interior is gilded, the rudder is in the form of a dolphin, the anchor is attached by a chain. The ship has 10 cannons and stands on four decorative wheels.
